Holbrook Academy is a popular secondary school that serves the Shotley Peninsula and the wider community. We are proud of our excellent reputation and welcome students from around 20 feeder primary schools into Year 7 each year.
As a smaller secondary school, Holbrook Academy fosters strong relationships between students and staff, and many families choose us because of our size and community ethos.
Beyond the academy, students and staff are well-connected to the wider community and the world beyond the classroom. Our students are keen volunteers locally, taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, helping out in residential care homes and local primary schools, and working to preserve the beautiful peninsula countryside. We also raise money for others across the country and the world through fundraising events like bake sales, fun runs, and sponsored walks. Our students love a challenge and relish the chance to play their part.
Students also support each other through various organisations, clubs, and activities. The Student Council raises issues on behalf of the school community and works with school leaders to implement positive change.
We share all our sports facilities and meeting spaces with the local community. Our brilliant playing fields, tennis courts, and superb sports centre and gym are always buzzing with activity.
We also regularly invite the local community into the school, not just for our hugely popular Open Evening each autumn, but also for our wonderful Summer Soiree, the much-anticipated school production, art exhibitions, sporting fixtures, and other fun events.
