MFL DEPARTMENT

Full-Time Teacher of French (Mainscale)

Required for September 2019, a dynamic and creative full-time teacher of French to work alongside the Head of Department.  The ability to offer some Spanish will be an advantage.

The position would suit an experienced candidate or a more recently qualified teacher.

Design Technology Technician / Instructor

Closing date: Friday 1st March 2019

£18,426 pro rata (39 weeks per annum)

Required for September 2019, a full-time Design Technology Technician/Instructor.

Applicants should be confident in working and maintaining all workshop equipment and have a reasonable understanding of woodworking techniques. Current and relevant certification for machine use will be an advantage. In addition, applicants will ideally have experience of teaching/instructing at secondary level.

The technician/instructor is required to prepare lesson resources for all classes, such as photocopying, weighing ingredients and laying out and collecting equipment and assisting in lessons as required. He/she will also be responsible for stock control and for monitoring health and safety and small repairs in the workshops. The technician/instructor will also liaise closely with the Head of Department over lesson preparation and delivery.

Caretaker

Closing date: Friday 8th March 2019

Salary  £19,819 (Increase due April 2019)

37 hours per week (shift pattern to be agreed), 52 weeks per year

Applicants please note that:

There is the possibility of additional responsibility more in line with the role of a ‘Site Manager’ and paid at a higher rate for suitably qualified and experienced applicants, in addition to which there is also the possibility of on-site family accommodation at a nominal rent. Both possibilities would be discussed at interview. Applicants interested in a post with more responsibility should indicate this when requesting job details.

The Caretaker is responsible for the security and maintenance of the Academy buildings and estate during term-time and holiday time. Duties and responsibilities in these areas are shared with two other, part-time, Caretakers.

Main areas of responsibility include:

  • Securing the premises at the end of the day and unlocking the premises in the morning, on a rota basis.
  • Supervision and management of maintenance and cleaning staff.
  • Ensuring the school complies with all current legislation in relation to site safety and facilities management, including the routine monitoring and testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting, water (including flushing of hot/cold systems), etc.
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are complied with to ensure safe use and security of the premises.
  • Being on-call in the event of emergencies and sharing on-call responsibilities with other members of the team at weekends and during the school holidays.
  • Ensuring routine building and site maintenance work is undertaken as necessary.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the premises in general, including decoration.
  • Liaising with school staff, contractors, and other appropriate persons as required.
  • Ensuring all plant and equipment is maintained to the required standard.
  • Occasionally driving students to and from events in the school minibus.
  • Liaising regularly with the Sports Centre Manager over lettings.
  • Ensuring the site is litter free and that damage and/or vandalism within the buildings and site is immediately acted upon.

Science Teacher (P/T – Summer Term)

Closing date: Friday 22nd March 2019

Required for the Summer term 2019, in the first instance, a suitably qualified and experienced part-time teacher of Science (Mondays and Tuesdays). Applicants with a Chemistry specialism will have an advantage.

The vacancy arises due to retirement of the present incumbent. There is the possibility of the post becoming permanent part-time from September.

The successful candidate will teach across the age and ability range (Key Stages 3 and 4).

Teacher of Design Technology (Food)

We are looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic teacher of Food Technology with excellent subject knowledge to join our Design and Technology department.

Exam Invigilators

Closing date: Wednesday 31st January 2018

We are in the process of recruiting people to act as invigilators, scribes and readers for our students during their external exams, mock exams and controlled assessments.

Hours will be offered on an ad hoc basis, primarily in May and June.

This work can be very rewarding: the successful applicants will make a genuine contribution to the success of both the school and individual students.
