Supporting your Child

Your child is at the heart of everything we do at Holbrook Academy and we are proud of the relationships we build and maintain between school and families.  These relationships, based on mutual trust and understanding, allow communication to flow seamlessly in both directions.

We welcome parents’ and carers’ input into your children’s time here at Holbrook and have various ways in which we gather your feedback in order that we continue to provide the best possible education for the students in our care.

Initially, your child’s form tutor should be the first port of call.  In these less certain times and the need to operate slightly differently, we have a pastoral structure in place as follows.  Any queries you have should be directed to these staff:

  • Year 7 and 8: Mr Anstee-Parry, Mr Le Marrec or Mr Maltby
  • Year 9:  Mr Lay
  • Year 10 and 11: Mr Hart or Ms Keinzley

For the first ten minutes of every day, the staff above will visit Lesson 1 with important communications, to check on wellbeing, to assist with student referrals, to manage any disciplinary issues, to check on friendship issues and to check on uniform and equipment.

Students will also be able to make any self-referrals for support by completing a form and placing it in a Help Box. There will be a Help Box in each zone and it will be checked at the start and end of each day. Alongside two full pastoral leaders we will also employ our family support worker on a full time basis at the beginning of term when students will need additional pastoral support.

In addition to the above, we are currently planning on running Parents Evenings in the usual manner in which you have the opportunity to meet with your children’s teachers to discuss their current progress at Holbrook.
