Enrichment

Our Enrichment programme is currently under review in response to Covid-19.

Please refer to the Covid-19 risk assessment.

Our ground breaking enrichment programme is one of the many reasons Holbrook students tell us they enjoy coming to school.  Where else could secondary school children opt in to a programme as rich and diverse as one offering (2019/2020 academic year):

  • Creative Writing
  • Computing Course and IT Skills
  • Weaving/Crafting
  • Sketching in the Community
  • School Show (always a big one!)
  • Chess Club
  • Being a Scientist/STEM
  • Cross Stitch
  • Zentangle
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award
  • Horrible Histories Mysteries
  • Sign Language
  • The Duke of York Inspiring Digital Challenge Award
  • Further Study/Revision

This is without the wide variety of sporting opportunities put on during this time, including (season dependent) football, rugby, basketball, badminton, table tennis, softball and cricket.

The enrichment program has been in place for a number of years now at Holbrook and parents and visitors often comment on the fact it allows students one hour a week where they do something for themselves.  It’s a time for all of us, staff and students alike, to come together and learn and enjoy new skills, maybe making new friends across year groups in the process.

For 2020/2021, the enrichment program is evolving to ensure that more students have the option to gain accreditation from the various activities they undertake, so watch this space; it’s going to be an exciting year in enrichment!
